Youth Activities Committee

Help plan activities for our youngest youth groupers -- and work with Junior BethTY and BethTY kids and their advisors.

Beth Tikvah’s high-school-age youth group gives our teenagers an opportunity to build a positive Jewish identity and provides rewarding Jewish experiences. BethTY is a member of the North American Federation of Temple Youth, Ohio Valley Region, and members attend regional conclaves with other youth groups from the Midwest. BethTY’s goals are to promote leadership, encourage group cooperation and build Jewish community among peers.

Out with the Old, In with the New – BethTY Board Elections!

The night started with a BethTY-led Shabbat service, which ran without a hitch. After all the members of the congregation finished schmoozing, the teenage Jews that led the service really got down to business. Just kidding; we got pizza. Once we were finished eating, the BethTY election process began. The new board became:

President- Sam Lazaroff
Programming VP- Jacob Barker
Social Action VP- Sam Goldberg
Religious/Cultural VP- Aaron Berlin
Membership VP- Alyssa Goss
Journalist- Hannah Goldenberg
Treasurer- Bobby Levine

Once the new board had been decided, the old and new board had a brief meeting while everyone else stretched. Then we had a candle lighting ceremony. Each old board member officially installed the new board member to take their place. The new board member received a present of significance to their new position and a secret. Once each new board member was officially installed, all the seriousness went out the window. Some went off and played a game while others got ready for movie and bed. When everyone returned, the movie was turned on and one by one the tired teens went to sleep. Most received a rude awakening in the morning when we were told to pack and clean up. All in all, elections ran smoothly and the new BethTY board is ready to leave their legacy in Beth Tikvah’s youth group.
